This course has a particular focus on broadcast and cross-platform multimedia content. Students are also trained in new and emerging journalism skill sets such as search engine optimisation of content; data journalism; and the visual presentation of information.
A good Honours degree (normally 2.1 or above) or equivalent qualification in a chosen subject or a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience, demonstrating the ability to study at postgraduate level. Applicants may be invited to interview. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 (with a minimum 6.5 in each component) or equivalent.
Stage 1: critical contexts; multimedia journalism (practical and production skills 1). Stage 2: the business of media (processes, models, law, regulation); multimedia journalism (practical and production skills 2). Stage 3: final project delivery (journalism); or dissertation (journalism and media communication).
Practical work and theoretical writing is assessed. Group and individual assessment is undertaken.
