Creative Arts Education

The Graduate Certificate in Creative Arts Education is for staff in further education (FE) or higher education (HE) institutions who are new or fairly new to teaching (having less than 3 years of full-time (equivalent) experience) or who are in supporting learning roles. These include learning support assistants, technical support, learning and teaching librarians, artists in residence, graduate teaching assistants and PhD students.

Entry requirements

BA (Hons) degree (normally a 1st Class/2.1/equivalent), or an international equivalent in a relevant discipline and less than 3 years' (full-time equivalent) teaching experience and 1 day a week or equivalent (minimum) of work in a teaching/supporting learning role at UCA or another further education and skills and/or higher education establishment. GCSE English at grade C or above, or equivalent (Mathematics Level 2 for entry to the course isn't needed, but applicants should be aware that they may need this qualification to gain employment in the further education and skills sector).

Course modules

Exploring learning and teaching; designing and delivering an inclusive curriculum; assessment, feedback and evaluation.

Assessment methods

Each unit is assessed through the submission of a range of tasks, whereby theory is used to inform the development of good practice appropriate for the discipline/professional support context and level.
