Areas of research include: Scottish history in the context of non-Anglocentric British history; Scottish and British history in the context of Northern European history; Scottish, British and Northern European history in the context of the North Atlantic World in general; issues relating to diet, death and disease; coal and oil; capital and labour; within those broad fields, chronological and thematic expertise ranges widely.
Applicants need a Upper 2nd Class Honours degree in a relevant subject; in addition, those whose mother tongue is not English require IELTS 6.5 with minimum writing score 6.0; or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language )580 with TWE (Test of Written English) 4.5.
