Ministry Studies

This course combines an intellectually challenging and practically significant introduction to the nature of Christian ministry in a changing, challenging and complex social and cultural environment. This programme has been carefully designed so that it is accessible to those who are already engaged in either full time or part time, ordained or lay Christian ministry. It is built around 4 one week modules that will be delivered at Aberdeen University immediately before the beginning of the University terms, in September and January.

Entry requirements

Candidates must normally have an Honours degree to at least 2.1 standard in an appropriate discipline or equivalent qualifications and experience. Applicants who have been educated in the medium of English are still required to meet the English language requirements (certain countries may be exempted from this requirement). This programme requires that applicants meet the 'postgraduate standard' level of English proficiency. Applicants who are in doubt about their proficiency in English should contact the British Council office or its equivalent in their country. For applicants whose 1st language is not English, it is important that their proficiency in English is good in order for them to study successfully at the University.

Course modules

The programme includes 2, 1 week intensively taught modules each year. Each module will include 30 teaching hour classes and seminars. The modules will be preceded by a 3 week guided reading course, and followed by 2 fortnightly online seminars over a 4 week period, and a final 4 week period during which students will complete their assessment tasks.

Assessment methods

The taught courses will be assessed by a variety of means that may include book reviews, seminar presentations and written assignments. The dissertation course will be assessed by submission of the dissertation.
