Professional Learning and Development (Primary)

Professional Learning & Teacher Education focuses on teacher development involving both policy and practice, spanning early years, primary and secondary education contexts - from initial teacher education to career-long continuing professional development.

Entry requirements

Fully qualified teacher registered with the general teaching council for Scotland (GTCS); suitably experienced in secondary education; completed a period of observation across the stage and curriculum of primary environment; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in all skills), TOEFL 580 (paper-based) including TWE 4.5, 90 (internet-based) including 20-24 in writing.

Course modules

Preparing learning and teaching in primary schools; developing for learning and teaching in primary schools.

Assessment methods

Formative assessment is a feature of all modules; formative and summative assessments are designed to arise naturally from the work; assignments focus directly on workplace applications.
