Finance and Real Estate
This new course brings together these 2 complementary disciplines and offers the student both RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) accreditation and the opportunity to take the leading professional finance qualification, CFA level 1, during the course. Those students who do not wish to take the CFA exam have an alternative research-based programme whilst their colleagues are working on the CFA material.
The minimum requirement is a good degree (equivalent to a British 2nd Class Honours degree) or above in any discipline. students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum 6.0 in reading and writing) or equivalent.
Semester 1: Quantitative methods; accountancy; valuation and finance; real estate economics. Semester 2: Portfolio analysis; real estate development and appraisal; financial analysis and markets; professional finance (CFA study and exam) studies in accounting (academic-led research skills course). Summer term: Dissertation.
Our programme employs a variety of assessment methods which are designed to assess knowledge, competencies and skills that are required in the modern financial world. This means you will be required to prepare reports, group and individual presentation etc as well as traditional exams and academic essays.
