Geology and Petroleum Geology

Areas of research range from micropalaeontology to meteorites, but the current research focus of the department is on the geological expression of surface and shallow sub-surface processes and their application to petroleum geology. Research projects can be divided into 7 specific research themes: Sediment flux; climate change and tectonics; tectonics and structural geology; salt tectonics and sediments; terrestrial ecosystems; deep-water frontiers; geofluids and porous media; meteorite impacts and astrobiology.

Entry requirements

A good 1st degree in an appropriate subject.
