Evolutionary and Population Biology

This course covers the origins and appearance of organisms and their genes as well as their interactions within the environment. It includes not only theoretical and experimental studies of evolutionary biology within the laboratory studying genes, genomes and phylogeny but also field work and applications to real problems, biodiversity and conservation science.

Entry requirements

1st or upper 2nd Class Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in each of the 4 components) or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: concepts in evolution; field course; behaviour and ecology; evolution in deep time; sexual conflict; conservation biology; the evolution of genetic systems; molecular evolution and phylogenetic.
