Biology and Biochemistry
Students on this course undertake taught courses over the 1st 2 years (gaining a MRes award at the end of year 1) while gradually increasing the amount of time spent on full time research to 100 per cent by year 3. As well as submitting a PhD thesis, our students gain both generic skills to improve their research and professional skills individually tailored to their needs.
1st or upper 2nd Class Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 (with not less than 6.0 in each of the 4 components) or equivalent.
Areas of research include: Cell and developmental biology; evolution and biodiversity; infection and immunity; medical and industrial biotechnology.
