Education

The course is intended to develop individual staff and the schools or educational institutions of which they are a part; it has been designed to offer a flexible structure enabling individuals to follow particular routes suitable for their own development.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a good undergraduate degree at Honours level, or equivalent. Applicants will normally be working in educational contexts. IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 650 or an approved equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: research methods in education. Optional modules: strategic leadership and management; reflecting on professional practice; inclusive education; special educational needs and disability; understanding pupil behaviour in schools;
addressing challenging pupil behaviour in schools; managing learning and teaching; evolving theories of autism; exploring coaching and mentoring; international and comparative education; understanding difficulties in literacy development and dyslexia; addressing difficulties in literacy development and dyslexia; introduction to special educational needs co-ordination in schools; further development of special educational needs co-ordination in schools.

Assessment methods

Assignments and a dissertation.
