Physical Activity, Nutrition and Health Promotion
This course is designed to help students pursue careers within the health sector and the health and fitness industry; it is particularly relevant to graduates in the fields of sport and exercise science; sport and physical education; health psychology; exercise and health; biological sciences; physiotherapy and nursing; and nutrition/ The course especially emphasises the role of physical activity; nutrition; health psychology; and professional communication in the promotion of health within a variety of population and patient groups.
A good Honours degree, normally in a related discipline; all applicants are considered on an individual basis and on the merit of previous experience and qualifications; a sample of students� writing required on application; IELTS 6 or TOEFL 650 or approved equivalent.
Physical activity, nutrition and strategic health planning; professional skills for healthcare providers; physical activity, nutrition and metabolic health; psychological approaches to public health; research methods and research design; dissertation; electives (e.g. placement, behavioural change, people management, exercise prescription).
Essay writing; critical appraisals of the scientific literature; case study reports; examinations; research portfolios and projects; practical examinations; presentations.
