Public Relations

Throughout this course students develop a theoretical knowledge of the place of public relations (PR) in society and, in the context of marketing communications, as a fundamental tool of reputation management. In addition, they build practical skills in PR through engagement with the industry and leading practitioners.

Entry requirements

A good BA Honours degree in business studies, (or cognate discipline, e.g. marketing or marketing communications) or journalism or media; or an exceptional good Honours degree in social sciences or humanities (providing there is appropriate business / media content); or exceptional candidates from any discipline with suitable business experience; appropriate command of English for EU / international students. IELTS 6.5; in other respects the standard university entry requirements will apply.

Course modules

Brand management and research; communication in the digital economy; integrated marketing; journalism, public relations and societies; marketing communications; PR dissertation; public relations debates, theory and planning; public relations event management; public relations issues.

Assessment methods

Written assignment; examination; in-class test; oral presentation; group report.
