Film and Television: Research and Production
This course prepares students for a career in the media and combines rigorous academic training in research skills and methodology with technical and vocational training in designing, researching and editing programmes, and in the process by which programmes are commissioned and sold; the programme includes a 12-week work placement in the media industry at a partner company such as the BBC or Maverick Television; students have the option of submitting a written or audio-visual dissertation.
A good Honours degree, or equivalent. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, with high standards of both written and spoken English.
3 core modules: Development and production for film and television; documentary filmmaking; research skills and methods.
Applicants have the option of submitting a written or audio-visual dissertation. Students choosing to do an audio-visual dissertation will also submit a 4,000-word evaluation. The written dissertation length is 15,000 words.
