This programme offers students the opportunity to explore a number of historical themes, drawing on the Department of History�s broad range of expertise. Students may pursue one of 3 pathways through the MA: Contemporary history; global history; or history of Christianity.
Students will need an Honours degree in a relevant subject, normally of an upper 2nd class standard.
Core modules for contemporary history pathway: Mass society and modernity 1914-1945; globalisation since 1945. Core modules for global history pathway: Global histories: comparisons and connections; making sense of the world: themes in global history. Core modules for the history of Christianity pathway: Writing the history of Christianity (double module). Core modules for all pathways: Historical methods; dissertation preparation.
Taught modules are assessed by essays of up to 4,000 words. Students will also complete a 15,000-word dissertation.
