Music (Electroacoustic composition/sonic art pathway)

A solid grounding in the field of composition, its aesthetics and traditions is augmented by instruction in the latest techniques and technology.

Entry requirements

2.1 Honours degree in a relevant subject. IELTS: 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band; TOEFL IBT: 88 overall with no less than 21 in reading, 20 in listening, 22 in speaking, 21 in writing; or PTE Academic 59 in all 4 skills. Alternatively students can satisfy the English language requirement by taking and successfully completing one of our English courses for international students.

Course modules

Core modules: advanced studies in electroacoustic composition; composition tutorials.
Optional modules: aesthetics and the philosophy of art; contemporary music studies; laptop ensemble; sound in society; music, place and identity; introduction to programming for electroacoustics; special study in music.
