Pentecostal and Charismatic Studies

This is a research programme with provision for 3 taught modules. It aims to explore these multifarious movements with academic honesty, emphasising the contextual nature of Charismatic Christianity, considering the lessons such a study has for world Christianity, and enabling academic reflection on these movements.

Entry requirements

Normally a 2.1 degree in a relevant discipline is required for entry.

Course modules

You will study a core research methods module. For your 2 optional modules you may choose from any of the other M-Level modules offered on the MA in Evangelical and Charismatic Studies or from the other M-level modules offered within the School of Philosophy, Theology and Religion or, where appropriate, from other schools in the College of Arts and Law. They will be studied independently with supporting tutorials. You will then produce a 20,000 word thesis. The following modules are recommended: history of evangelicalism and pentecostalism; pentecostal/charismatic theology in context; sociology of evangelicalism and pentecostalism.
