Civil Engineering and Management

This course is for civil engineering and related graduates wishing to study project and construction management within a civil engineering context. It addresses the working of engineering and construction organisations and provides disciplines and techniques of practical use in civil engineering, management and implementation of all stages of construction and civil engineering projects. This opens up a wide range of career opportunities, as many of the techniques are applicable both within and outside the civil engineering design and construction industry.

Entry requirements

Applicants for admission to the MSc/PG Diploma should normally hold, or be expecting to achieve, a good 1st degree (Bachelor or Master's level) or other approved qualification at an equivalent level. This would usually be civil engineering or a related discipline. Applications from holders of pertinent non-engineering degrees will be welcome. Relevant post-graduate experience in industry will also be taken into account in considering applications and holders of CEng or IEng qualifications, or equivalent, but without a degree, are also invited to apply.

Course modules

The following modules are offered: individual research project; finance and core skills; sustainable construction; engineering production and risk management; engineering structural dynamics; advanced structures and design; geomechanics; soil mechanics.
