Health Studies

This programme is designed to enable students to further develop their knowledge of current health care at the depth and breadth appropriate to Master's level work.

Entry requirements

Admission to the programme is on the basis that applicants will have a BSc/BA Honours degree or equivalent. The degree should normally be a 1st or upper 2nd class Honours degree. Students also need to submit 2 academic/employer references in support of their application and professional and practical capabilities; transcripts of their degrees so far (certified and translated in to English if appropriate). English language requirements IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component) or TOEFL Internet based 88 overall with no less than no less than 21 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 22 in Speaking, 21 in Writing.

Course modules

3 mandatory modules: developing evidence based practice; advancing practice through personal and professional development; research dissertation.
In addition, students choose 4 option modules. Optional modules within nursing and physiotherapy (no pre-requisites): Current issues in health; project management and research governance; work based continuous professional development.
Optional modules within nursing and physiotherapy: from neurons to society; specialist neurological rehabilitation 1: cognitive neuropsychological basis of practice; advanced manipulative physiotherapy 1; advanced manipulative physiotherapy 2.

Assessment methods

Students are assessed in a variety of ways, and these may be different with each modules that they take.
