Paediatrics and Child Health

Current research covers a wide portfolio of basic, translational and clinical research focussing on endocrinology, and neonatal medicine, with all the major paediatric subspecialties active in research (e.g. nephrology, neurology, gastroenterology and dietetics); ongoing studies employ a broad range of approaches including clinical experimental, database and qualitative studies; research interests of staff include: Genetics of diabetes and rare forms of diabetes; clinical studies in childhood diabetes; paediatric endocrinology and diabetes; genetics of inherited diabetes syndrome; nutrition/gastroenterology; malnutrition, enteral and parenteral nutrition; intestinal transport; developmental physiology of the gut; microbial determinants of enteropathogenicity; paediatric clinical trials; neonatal medicine; community paediatrics; paediatric hepatology and metabolism.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree (normally a 1st or Upper 2nd class honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant subject awarded by an approved university, or attainment of an alternative qualification or qualifications and/or evidence of experience judged by the University as indicative of an applicant�s potential for research and as satisfactory for the purpose of entry to a research degree programme. Admission and registration for a research degree programme may be conditional on satisfactory completion of preliminary study, which may include assessment. Applicants may, if they live in the UK, be invited for an interview or to visit to discuss their application. English requirements are: IELTS 7.0 with no less than 6.5 in any band, TOEFL 95 overall with no less than 22 in any band, or PTE Academic 67 in all 4 skills.
