Occupational Health

This programme is designed to meet the needs of postgraduate training in the prevention and control of work-related ill health and to understand the issues of ill health and its effect on work in the 21st century. Open to graduates with relevant 1st degrees and those with appropriate work experience including doctors, nurses, hygienists, and health and safety personnel.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a relevant 1st degree, although those with relevant work experience or appropriate expertise will be considered. English to IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component) or TOEFL Internet based 88 overall with no less than no less than 21 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 22 in Speaking, 21 in Writing.

Course modules

Dissertation; effects of work on health and fitness for work; epidemiology statistics and research methods; legal aspects; occupational ergonomics; occupational exposure and risk assessment i and ii; occupational mental health; occupational toxicology; principles and practices of occupational health practice; risk management.

Assessment methods

Written assignments. Some modules require written examinations to be taken.
