Clinical Primary and Community Care

This programme is suitable for doctors, nurses and any other health care professionals aiming to acquire specialised skills and qualifications in primary and community care; for example, covering all dimensions required in line with the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework. This programme provides all primary health care professionals with skills and academic requirements for specialist clinical practice within the community, as well as research skills and health service evaluation.

Entry requirements

A relevant 1st degree or equivalent professional qualification. Please note that to be eligible to gain the full MSc/PGDip/PGCert in Clinical Primary Community Care you must be working in the UK NHS. English requirements are: IELTS 7.0 with no less than 6.5 in any band, TOEFL 95 overall with no less than 22 in any band, or PTE Academic 67 in all 4 skills.

Course modules

Core modules: dissertation; epidemiology statistics and research methods; qualitative research methods.
Optional modules: anticoagulation management; atrial fibrillation management and stroke prevention; heart failure management; hypertension management; management of gynaecology in the community; mental health care in the community; current issues in health; developing evidence based practice; introduction to health economics; teaching and learning for health professionals.

Assessment methods

Assessment on the Clinical Primary and Community Care Master's programme include: MCQ exams, case studies and assessment in practice.
