Public Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics

The course is home to a wide range of academic public health activities, including: epidemiological and health services research; public health resource development; health technology assessment; postgraduate taught courses; research opportunities and undergraduate medical education; our main research programmes are in the areas of: The epidemiology of maternal and child health, cancer, health behaviour, and respiratory and communicable disease; health services research in health care evaluation, evidence-based practice, health care quality, health impact assessment; clinical trials and other research methodology.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree (normally a 1st or 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant subject awarded by an approved university, or attainment of an alternative qualification or qualifications and/or evidence of experience judged by the University as indicative of an applicant's potential for research and as satisfactory for the purpose of entry to a research degree programme. Admission and registration for a research degree programme may be conditional on satisfactory completion of preliminary study, which may include assessment. Applicants may, if they live in the UK, be invited for an interview or to visit to discuss their application. English requirements are: IELTS 7.0 with no less than 6.5 in any band, TOEFL 95 overall with no less than 22 in any band, or PTE Academic 67 in all 4 skills.
