Dementia Studies

This programme explores the role of professionals working with people with dementia.

Entry requirements

Professional health or social care qualification in nursing, social care, clinical psychology, occupational therapy or other related area; 1 year's post-qualifying experience; good Honours degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent postgraduate qualification; candidates must have written agreement of support from their manager and evidence of negotiated access for practice requirements. IELTS at 6.5 or the equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: experience of dementia; dementia care guiding principles; evidence-based dementia care; brain and behaviour - implications for dementia care practice; PgDip modules include: practice development and organisational change; ethical and legal issues in dementia; activities and occupation in dementia care; evidence-based dementia care; brain and behaviour; audit and evaluation in dementia care; research literacy and design; dissertation for MSc.

Dissertation.
