Advanced Practice (Midwifery)
This programme offers registered midwives an opportunity to engage in postgraduate education, in order to deepen and enhance their practice through acquisition, extension and critical appraisal of their knowledge and skills. The programme was written specifically for registered midwives, but shares modules throughout the School of Health Studies and a multiprofessional approach is used in teaching and learning; it also offers students the chance to specialise in the area of Advanced Clinical Practice.
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a midwife; currently employed in a midwifery capacity; Honours degree or an Advanced Diploma course with a distinction; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
60 credits equivalent to advanced clinical practice (midwifery) pg certificate plus; independent clinical study (30 credits), or; clinical examination in case management (30 credits)plus either; undertaking systematic review (30 credits), or; research methods in health and social care (30 credits).
