Diabetes (Practitioners with a special interest)
This programme provides competence-based training for GPs with a special interest and other advanced-level practitioners, such as nurse consultants and specialist nurses; programmes are run by the NHS and are taught by specialist clinicians.
Interest and experience in area of special interest; support of the local specialist consultant (who acts as a mentor); support of the Primary Care Trust; in the case of secondary care staff, acknowledgement from the Acute Trust must also be made available.
