Applied Physiotherapy

This course has been developed for international students who are working in physiotherapy roles in their home country and who wish to develop their skills further. Students will be able to access and appraise new developments and advances, which will influence patient management and rehabilitation and will help to foster effective inter-professional working.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a relevant professional qualification normally at Bachelors degree level (Ordinary or Honours) or Level 3 equivalent; be a physiotherapist or other health professional registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) or other relevant professional body; normally have 2 years post qualification experience and normally have experience of working in a relevant speciality. Students who wish to undertake practice modules within the pathways should demonstrate that they are registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). English language requirements: IELTS at 6.5 or the equivalent.

Course modules

The 2 main pathways offered at the University of Bradford for international students are Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy or Physiotherapy in Women's Health/Continence. Plus a more general Rehabilitation Studies (Physiotherapy) pathway.
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Practice Pathway (180 credits - including 3 x option modules, plus a research module, plus the extended study in rehabilitation); physiotherapy management of musculoskeletal function and dysfunction (upper limb) (15 credits) (c); physiotherapy management of musculoskeletal function and dysfunction (lower limb) (15 credits) (c); physiotherapy management of musculoskeletal function and dysfunction (spinal ) (15 credits) (c); independent study in rehabilitation (15 credits) (c); therapeutic exercise in rehabilitation (30 credits) or any negotiated 30 credit module from the faculty-wide framework (o); undertaking a systematic review (research module) (30 credits) (c); final stage systematic review (60 credits) (c). Physiotherapy in women's health/continence pathway: continence theory for physiotherapists (30 credits) (c); theory of physiotherapy in women's health (30 credits) (c); therapeutic exercise in rehabilitation (30 credits) or independent study in rehabilitation (30 credits) or any negotiated 30 credit module from the faculty-wide framework (o); undertaking a systematic review (research module) (30 credits) (c); final state systematic review (60 credits) (c).
