Sports Physiotherapy

This programme is aimed at the physiotherapist working or aspiring to work in the field of sport. It will equip you with the principles of sports physiotherapy and therapeutic exercise to enable you to competently work with individuals or teams in the sporting setting regardless of their age, ability, disability or level of participation. It provides the practitioner with the knowledge, skills and understanding to work in the sporting environment and implement prevention of injury strategies, manage acute trauma and injury and rehabilitate the individual. It will also equip the individual to work as a physiotherapist travelling with a team in either a single or multi-sporting environment. Completion of the programme of study will provide evidence of SSPRD activity which will be appropriate to apply for membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine (ACSPM).

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a first degree or equivalent relevant qualification or appropriate experience within the field of practice. Applicants should also be a physiotherapist or other health professional registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) or other relevant professional body. Applicants should have 2 years' post-qualification experience and experience of working in a relevant speciality.
