Mental Health Practice
This programme explores the role of mental health professionals in the compulsory detention of individuals requiring psychiatric treatment.
Good Honours degree or relevant experience. Employer nomination: all applicants must be nominated by a local authority or other employer. A 1st degree (minimum 2.2). In exceptional cases candidates without a first degree may submit evidence of their ability to study at postgraduate level - the Programme Director will assess this for suitability. IELTS at 7.5 or the equivalent.
Law, policies and procedures (and AMHP role) (20 credits) (c); critical perspectives in mental health (20 credits) (c); collaborative practice in mental health (20 credits) (c); risk: evidence-based decision making and communication (20 credits) (c); AMHP practice (40 credits) (c); Master's dissertation in mental health practice (60 credits) (c).
