Chemical and Petroleum Engineering
This programme is designed to give a broad introduction to the subject. Students explore how the chemical, biochemical or physical state of substances are altered to create health care products (face creams, shampoo, perfume, drugs), food (dairy products, cereals, agro-chemicals) water (desalination for freshwater) and energy (petroleum to nuclear fuels).
2.1 Honours degree in chemical engineering; applicants with 2.1 equivalent Honours degrees in chemistry, biology, physics, environmental science who have completed the course 'chemical engineering for scientists' run by the institution of chemical engineers are welcome; applicants with 2.1 equivalent Honours degrees in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, production engineering, control engineering, who have completed the course 'chemical engineering for other engineers' run by the institution of chemical engineers are encouraged to apply. Candidates whose 1st language is not English should have IELTS at 6.0 or the equivalent.
