Focusing on applying social marketing principles to the key health, environmental and civic issues in contemporary society, the Social Marketing Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) will give students the skills and confidence to plan and manage social marketing campaigns. This course will be of particular interest to professionals wishing to deepen their understanding of social marketing theory and practice, and apply their learning to work-based projects.
Individual offers may vary. Degree and/or experience: normally a good Honours degree or equivalent is required. A degree in any subject will be considered. Work experience is useful but not essential. Other: a short interview, either in person or by phone/email, is required before being accepted onto the course.
A compulsory Social Marketing module is taught over four consecutive days, with additional supervision and assessment time. On completion of this module students can choose to follow one of two routes:the work-based route or the modules route. Modules route (choose two): meeting the challenges: public health; research methods for critical appraisal; behavioural economics; the dynamic public service environment; service planning and commissioning; sustainable joint working; marketing for the not-for-profit sector.
Assessment is composed of a mix of coursework, project work and examinations.
