Advanced Social Work

This course supports the development of social workers in Adult Services who are experienced in their specialist field and are responsible for providing practice or professional leadership within their organisations. This can be in relation to professional practice, management or social work educator.

Entry requirements

Applicants should normally have a 1st degree, or accredited prior learning (APL), a recognised social work qualification and hold registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a social worker. Applicants should have a minimum of 15 hours per week dedicated to professional social work practice in a leadership role and have the agreement of an employer to facilitate relevant experience and supervision.

Course modules

In order to complete the course, students must successfully complete the following module: Research in Advanced Social Work Practice: the Dissertation.
