Classics and Ancient History
The Department of Classics and Ancient History, world-renowned for its trailblazing approach to the discipline, offers the opportunity for study in myth, literature and art from the Bronze Age to the modernists, and approaches to the past from economic and social history to the study of historiography. Within this programme you can choose a course of study that matches your research interests. Whichever you choose, you will enhance and develop your skills and knowledge in Greek and Roman cultures and their impact through the ages.
You may use the MA programme to explore new areas and disciplines, or to gain a firm grounding in the traditional skills of the classicist or ancient historian. We are also unique in that we offer our MA students the opportunity to study both Latin and Greek languages at any level, from beginner to advanced.
