This course appeals to people who are deeply interested in the personal development of young people as they grow to become active and responsible members of society; the course is committed to developing a broad view of education for Citizenship, embracing a pedagogy of active learning that is not confined to traditional lessons; the course places strong emphasis on the use of active learning techniques and strategies which are first and foremost pupil centred; students are taught in a practical and active way from the outset in order to both develop your skills as a teacher and build confidence in the classroom; at the centre of the course are periods of school experience which provide opportunities to put ideas into practice this course leads to recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
At least GCSE/ O-level at grade C or an equivalent qualification in English and mathematics; a degree or an equivalent qualification in a subject relevant to the proposed main teaching subject.
Modules include: curriculum studies (citizenship); education and professional studies; school experience.
