This programme which provides a rigorous training in core skills in analytical economics and econometrics, as well as allowing some specialisation in chosen areas of the subject. It is intended for graduates whose first degree did not focus on economics and is a free-standing qualification, enabling graduates to seek employment in economics-related fields. For graduates intending to pursue further study, the programme is designed to meet entrance requirements for postgraduate programmes at Masters level or higher.
An upper 2nd Class Honours degree (or international equivalent). Entrance qualifications must include a significant mathematical/statistical component, either at degree level or a minimum of grade A at A level mathematics (or equivalent).
Core units: Econometrics; intermediate economics 1 with extended essay; intermediate economics 2 with extended essay. optional units: current economic problems; economics of developing countries; environmental economics; history of economic thought; industrial economics; international economics; labour economics; macroeconomic theory and policy; principles of finance; public economics.
