Finance and Investment

The course provides training in the area of finance and investment based on current and modern academic thinking and industry best practice. The programme is designed for students who intend to pursue a career in the financial sector. It offers an education in the theories and methodologies that are utilised today for valuation using financial tools from both the investors and institutional perspective. It also examines the complexities behind the decision making processes required at all levels. The programme is designed for students who have recently acquired their bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, investment and banking related fields and wish to enhance their knowledge of managing and working in organisations within an array of competing economic, social, political and cultural conditions.

Entry requirements

A 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree in accounting, finance, investment or banking related subjects from a recognised university; or a recognised professional finance qualification with relevant work experience; applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS of 6.5 (with 6.0 or above in each component).

Course modules

Core modules include: accountability, responsibility and governance; advanced corporate finance; dissertation; empirical techniques in finance research; evolution of finance; international financial regulation, compliance and anti-money laundering legislation; investment strategy and portfolio management; quantitative and qualitative empirical methods; the financial system: individuals and institutional investors. optional modules include: money, banking and financial markets; financial risk management; behavioural finance.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include examination and production of a dissertation.
