Global Affairs

The programme aims to educate graduates for advancement into senior professional work in foreign and other ministries, international organisations, financial and commercial institutions, trade and industry, international journalism and global civil society organisations. The courses are taught intensively in lectures, seminars and small group tutorials; they assume little prior knowledge but rapidly bring students to an advanced level of understanding.

Entry requirements

1st or 2nd Class Honours degree or relevant work experience; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 (with 6.0 or above in each component).

Course modules

Modules include: diplomacy; economic issues in global affairs 1; economic issues in global affairs 2; global business; global governance 1; global governance 2; history of the international system 1; history of the international system 2; international law and diplomacy; security challenges and other global issues; security challenges: flash points and hot spots; the world trade regime (law, institutions and policy).

Assessment methods

Assessment is by written examination and dissertation.
