Genome Research (BBSRC)

Babraham institute's research focus is on functional exploration of the genome; research areas include: intracellular signalling; neuroendocrinology; immunogenetics; cellular physiology; protein engineering; cell, tissue and organism development and differentiation; the neural and genetic basis of behaviour; regulation of gene expression; sperm and oocyte development and fertilisation; neurodegenerative disease; genome mapping; biochemistry and biology of immunity and inflammation; genetic and developmental basis of disease; research also possible within sanger centre, where interests include: computer sequence analysis methods and their application to human and other genome sequences; sequence-based predictions of protein structures; gene function in the mouse with genetic and genomic approaches; investigation of genes involved in human disease, including cancer; in addition to the course fee (university composition fee) students may have to pay a college fee.

Entry requirements

Upper 2nd Class Honours degree or overseas equivalent; applicants whose 1st language is not English must demonstrate competence in English (IELTS 7.0 with at least 6.0 in each element; or other acceptable test).
