Major research is carried out in behavioural and cognitive sciences; areas of research include: sensory and perceptual processes in vision and hearing; memory, attention and language; animal learning; cognitive neuropsychology; developmental psychology; clinical psychology; the department does not normally supervise research in social psychology, in personality, or in social aspects of clinical psychology; students interested in those particular areas are advised to apply to the social and political sciences faculty; in addition to the course fee (university composition fee) students may have to pay a college fee.
Upper 2nd class Honours degree in psychology or, for certain areas of research, physiology, neurobiology, linguistics, computer science, engineering.
