Social Innovation

This programme is designed for practitioners for the business, public and social sectors who wish to lead innovative solutions to pressing social issues. Students on the programme will be outstanding individuals who wish to build on their experience and expertise collaborating with colleagues across sectors.

Entry requirements

At least as 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent standard from an overseas institution. Applicants should have at least two years' work experience (excluding vacation employment and internships during the course of their undergraduate degree). Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have: IELTS 7.5, with not less than 7.0 in each element; TOEFL 110, with not less than 25 in each element; CAE grade A or B (with at least 293 in each individual element) plus a language centre assessment; CPE grade A, B or C (with at least 200 in each individual element).

Course modules

Modules: organising for social change; leading social innovation; social innovation in practice: the social innovation project; social innovation research; social innovation dissertation.

Assessment methods

Modules 1 and 2 will be assessed by essays (5,000 words). Module 3 will be assessed by a business plan or critical case study (5,000 words) and module 5 by a research proposal (4,000 words). Each module assignment (1-4) contributes 12.5 per cent to the final mark. Module 5, a 15,000 word dissertation, contributes 50 per cent to the final mark.
