The 1st year consists of training and lab rotations in mini projects, leading to an MRes degree; it is followed by a 3-year PhD in 1 of the participating laboratories; the MRes cannot be taken separately from the PhD - it is integral to the 4-year programme; in addition to the course fee (university composition fee) students may have to pay a college fee.
At least a 2.1 in an Honours degree or equivalent (eg CGPA 3.5/4.0) in a relevant subject; for some non-EU applicants a Master's degree may be required; 2 outstanding references from senior university staff at their most recent university; fluency in the English language (recent IELTS test with an overall band score of at least 7.0 with not less than 7.0 in speaking, listening and writing, and 6.5 in reading).
