Geographical Research

This course is intended to give students a broad-based advanced training and critical awareness of geographical research and its methods, including awareness of the research methods of related disciplines.

Entry requirements

Good Honours degree in a geography-related discipline. IELTS score of 7.0.

Course modules

Topics covered include: environment and development; regional political economy, theory and policy analysis; culture, history, space and place; social science methods: database management: statistical and qualitative analysis software; survey methods; statistical methods' qualitative methods; presentation skills.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on 3 essays and one 20,000 word dissertation.
