Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics
Research areas include: high-speed aerodynamics, hydrodynamics and flows in liquid metals; turbo-machinery including transonic fans, gas turbines and steam turbines; multiphase flows, particle transport, sediment transport and wave loading; nuclear engineering; heat transfer; thermoacoustics, aeroacoustics, antisound, flow instabilities and control; combustion, pollutant emissions, fire and explosion hazards; internal combustion engines, engine controls; computational and experimental modelling of industrially significant flows.
Upper 2nd class degree or overseas equivalent; applicants whose 1st language is not English must have IELTS 7.0 with at least 6.0 in each element; TOEFL 600 with TWE 5.0; or other acceptable test.
Limited number of EPSRC funded PhD studentships available to UK/EU students.
