This self-contained course can also serve as prerequisite for doctor of philosophy research; students follow either the medieval or renaissance elements of the course; in addition to the course fee (university composition fee) students may have to pay a college fee.

Entry requirements

1st or 2nd class UK Honours degree, or the overseas equivalent.

Course modules

Interpretation of literary texts of the medieval or renaissance period; palaeography; textual and bibliographical studies.

Assessment methods

Essays; dissertation.
