The course requires candidates to undertake independent research under the supervision of a member of the faculty and must keep at least 3 terms of residence before submitting for examination a thesis not exceeding 30000 words. The thesis must afford evidence of serious study and the ability to discuss a difficult problem critically; the diploma year may, in appropriate circumstances, be counted towards either the MLitt or PhD research degrees.

Entry requirements

A 1st Class degree in law from a UK university; or its equivalent from a university overseas; or a very good Upper 2nd Class Honours degree in law with an overall 1st or distinction in a Master's degree in law. IELTS score of 7.5.

Assessment methods

A dissertation not exceeding 30,000 words.
