Students on this course acquire advanced technical training in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics.

Entry requirements

A good 2.1 undergraduate degree in economics (a business studies, accountancy or management degree or qualification does not provide an adequate background); applicants from North American institutions: a GPA of 3.6 out of 4 or the equivalent; applicants from other educational systems: within the top 10 per cent of their reference group. Applicants whose previous university training is from countries outside the UK must submit the results of a recent Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test. IELTS score of 7.5.

Course modules

Students take 8 modules plus a dissertation; there are 3 compulsory modules in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics; students then select a further 3 modules from advanced and applied modules in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics and the final 2 modules can be taken from advanced, applied and specialist modules.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by written papers and a dissertation.
