The Cambridge area teaching schools alliance (CATSA), which comprises Comberton Village College, Histon and Impington Junior School, Parkside Federation Academies, Saffron Walden County High School and Swavesey Village College, is working with the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge; there are opportunities to learn about organising fieldwork in the outdoors, and using molecular biological techniques within the classroom; there is also a key focus on plant biology, to develop and enhance students' teaching and learning strategies when teaching plant science; at least 1 of the professional placements takes place in CATSA schools and students receive targeted support from staff in these schools; trainees are required to be members of a Cambridge college.

Entry requirements

Honours degree with a 1st or upper 2nd (2.1) classification;a 2.2 classification may be considered; at least 50 percent of degree modules must be in a relevant subject; 3 A levels at an average of grade B; GCSE passes (grade C or above) in English language and mathematics; 5-10 days work experience or observation in the year before application in a mainstream UK state school, working alongside children within the appropriate age ranges, and subject; interview.
