The areas of philosophical research include: Aesthetics, epistemology, ethics, history of philosophy, legal philosophy, logic, metaphysics, moral psychology, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, and political philosophy.
Minimum of 2 years full-time undergraduate study in philosophy, and an upper 2nd class BA Honours Degree 67 percent or the equivalent (US GPA 3.6). Candidates must also have completed a research-training Master's course. Students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.5.
The PhD culminates in the production of a thesis of up to 80,000 words.
