University of Central Lancashire
The programme builds upon an existing suite of awards for the professional education of practitioners. The 2-stage structure (MEd/EdD) means educational practitioners can progressively develop their research in practice part-time culminating in doctoral research. The doctorate uses existing Master's modules for stage 1. Stage 2 comprises new modules at level 8 taking participants through to their final thesis. Because of the 2-stage structure to the Doctorate, participants can exit with a Master's award at the end of stage 1.
A good Honours degree or equivalent and be an experienced educational practitioner with a minimum of 2 years experience at commencement of stage 1.
Assessment methods include: Written assignments, papers, oral presentations and critical debate, dialogue, progression meetings and reflective logs. The final assessment is the doctoral thesis and oral examination.
