Education and Modern Foreign Languages

The course comprises 7 modules which include 6 taught modules and a 60 credit dissertation.

Entry requirements

You will be expected to be working in an educational setting and will hold a 1st degree at 2.2 level or above in languages or a related subject; a minimum level of B2 (or equivalent) from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required in the appropriate modern foreign language; if your 1st language is not English you should have IELTS at a minimum of level 6.5, with a minimum of Level 6 in reading and writing, or equivalent; a UCLan based language assessment is available on request; we will also consider applications from individuals with alternative significant prior experience and/or professional training in education, and each applicant will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Course modules

Modules include: The critical professional; developing innovation in teaching, learning and assessment; designing and planning your research project; dissertation; 2nd language acquisition; methodology in TESOL; 1 of the following depending on your language specialism: French language; German language; Spanish language.
