The course provides students with analytical and reflective skills and expertise in law; enables students to develop their academic ability and enhance their performance in employment.

Entry requirements

A recognised British Honours degree to a good standard, or its equivalent. Applications from all candidates will be considered on their merits and in the light of the nature and scope of the programme or work proposed. Informal enquiries are welcomed and will normally be followed by an initial advisory interview.

Course modules

Compulsory modules include: Dissertation; advanced legal research. Plus 5 optional modules (subject to numbers): Discrimination in employment; security in employment; employment law in practice; privacy and confidentiality of information; international intellectual property law; WTO law and policy; shipping and maritime commercial law; international commercial arbitration; international commercial litigation; international company and commercial law; banking and financial services regulation; international human rights; international criminal law and security; maritime law and security; transnational regulation of terrorism; transnational regulations of human trafficking.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by coursework, with the exception of the dissertation.

All students who have undertaken their degree at this University are entitled to a 20 per cent reduction on postgraduate courses; career development Loans.
